Russian DVD of IWTB and FtF on Sept. 4
I just saw this on the Haven posted by Foxik. I'm surprised by how early this is! I know that this isn't the full DVD release with all the extras (it's just the movies, trailer, surround sound and gallery-- the basics), but still-- seems really early to put out the movie. Maybe it's a reward for the Russian philes who really turned out in huge numbers for the movie (Go Russian Philes!), or a bid to stem possible piracy. Either way, this is a very cool item for collectors.
Have we heard yet when the full DVD/Blu-Ray release is going to happen?

I'm very happy for the russian philes, but I remember you that the movie will be released in Italy only the 5th September.

I'd forgotten about that! I know that Japan isn't until November. These DVDs are only available in Russian and Ukrainian languages. I guess they figure they will only service the people in those territories who have already seen it.
It's a Region 5 DVD release, so even if my langauge skills hadn't completely eroded, I wouldn't be able to do anything with them.

I always wanted to have one X-Files season in Russian. Just for the fun of it and to improve my Russian.
Its so funny to see the office-back-and-forth-argumentation of Mulder and Scully in other languages! ^^
I never got one though. I only watched it on TV there when I was in Moscow ^^.

Maybe I will find someone (family/friends, my sister is studying Russian at the uni..so there must be *someone*) who is travelling to Russia and who can bring along the DVD !
yus! Then I can FINALLY make a screenshot of those *waves in the credits* and have it as my ..uhm desctop, print it as poster and whatnot LoL (although the quality wont be the best using a screenshot..) !
hmm..now I only have to find someone ..*looks around*

Kate, September 4th release date has nothing to do with a reward for the Russian fans from FOX. Although we really did our best to make this movie succesfull in Russia and Ukraine (some of my friends went to see the movie more than 30 times!)
You were right -- it's just an anti piracy tactic. It's a quite cheap Region 5 release -- just a theatrical version of the movie in 2 languages (Russian and Ukrainian) without any cool bonuses. Although sound and image quality are very good. And the cover has a really fantastic design: it's a stereo cover with both FTF and IWTB posters morphing each other -- very cool!
Usually we get our full DVD versions after US release.
As for having X-Files seasons in Russian -- they weren't officialy released here. :( Although one TV channel re-airs XF almost every year, so next time you'll be in Russia you'll have a chance to watch them as "Sekretniye Materialy" LOL ;)

Hmmmm.. And here I was contemplating wether seeing my family was enough of a reason to make a trip to Russia this fall... Hmmmmmm

That crappy release is just for those, who can't wait to watch it at home on DVD5 and also not so tasteless to download sh!tty cam-rip's, TS's and other f*****g stuff.
Looks like I will download pirate DVDRip from this russian release and better to buy Complete Unrated Edition on DVD+BluRay, when it comes out. What a hell, they even don't have a original english track. Funk it!

Yeah, XF:IWTB doesn't have original English track but it has Ukrainian and more than that KAZACH subtitles!!! Common! It's gonna be funny)))
Personally I'll buy it only for a cool stereo cover and because I want this movie to do well on DVD!!!

I'm not sure that's a great plan. I think we are all hoping for an XF3, and the main way to achieve that is for Fox to make as much money of this movie in its various forms as possible. If you steal it through the pirated version that wont really get us there. I know you don't love this version, but every chance we get to support the film financially seems like a good opportunity for us to show that there is still a financially viable market for the film. Just my .02, of course.

Kate, you speak 100% truth. We all want to know when we´ll be able to have our DVD because we loved the movie. BUT, we will patiently wait in order to make a statement to Fox....We want-deserve-crave-expect our XF 3!!!
