Big Light

I just got finished re watching All Things, one of my all time favorite "shipper" episodes.
When it struck me that in the beginning of the episode Scully is wearing pants, and ends with her
in a skirt. That was when it struck me the whole point of the ep, was so we would know Mulder
was definetly Williams father. But also that it was then that William was concieved. has anyone else ever
noticed this or am late on the train?

well to be fair a day or two passes during the span of the ep. she does... sleep and i assume shower and change clothes in that time.

but for arguments sake, although it was hinted that this could have been THE NIGHT (fireworks and shipper marching bands ensue) the reality is that the scene was put in at the last minute to establish M and S were getting freaky. Nothing more, nothing less.

So for all we know Scully could have changed three times. Maybe Mulder has a walk in closet we've never seen and she's hoarded all the space so all he's left with for garments is the bedspread... the world may never know.

hope this helps!

LOL Oh man! I should have never read that LOL Now I can't get the thought that Mulder wears women's clothing out of my head and Scully was just borrowing a skirt LOL

See Per manum 8x13. GA said it in an interview.
GA said:

Gillian Anderson is giving her take on the eighth season of The X-Files. While talking to Ian Spelling at "Horror Online", Anderson gave her assessment, saying, "I think that the writers have come up with some really wonderful episodes. We’ve had some good, scary shows. I think that Robert Patrick is doing a fantastic job. David (Duchovny) hasn’t been around very much at all. We only worked together for two days so far this whole season. He is coming around for six more episodes at the end of the season, apparently, but we don’t start filming those until sometime in February. So I haven’t had much of an experience with him this year. But on the whole, it’s been a good year."

Regarding her character coming to the fore as the central figure on the series, Anderson says, "The writers are not thinking about me. They’re thinking about the characters, as they should be. In their minds it’s all about the scripts and the characters and nothing to do with me. I think they were just writing what would serve the storylines most effectively. It made sense to have Scully take charge, but I really don’t think it had anything to do with me."

Anderson also revealed that coming episodes will feature flashbacks into key moments in the Scully-Mulder relationship, as well as hinting that one look will address the night the two "may" have conceived the baby.
she's in a skirt on the couch, she's in a skirt in the opening. right?

one thing that i did find inconsistent with the "did they, didn't they" implications was exactly what anderson references in the above quote about the night they may have conceived. "all things" pretty much implies they simply gave into a lingering temptation and scully looks conflicted, like it won't happen again, at the beginning of the epi. during the season 9 ep "trust no 1" (can't recall if this is the exact epi name and I refuse to watch the last season again) where it is implied that mulder and scully have been shadowed all along, complete with photo montage of all manner of scenes, the shadow man assigned to track them mentions that even he was surprised that on one cold, lonely night she lets mulder into her bed. implication--it happens at scully's place and once.

so, was william a result of "all things" or the incident referred to in the season 9 episode? or does this simply imply they've turned to one another on more than one occasion?
hmmmmm, you've got me wondering. i may just have to drag out this old episode and watch to verify what you're talking about. skirt, pants, sex, no-sex ??????? i'm perplexed. pants in the opening scene would sort of muddle the unfolding of events.
CC and millenium

I hope t bring back Frank Black. I love the character, and I love working with Lance, so the big treat last year was being able to bring him back and doing it in an episode where M&S actually get to consummate their relationship with a kiss. After 7 years you've got to admit that it's pretty good for two characters who've had such sexual tension. It's the world's longest foreplay.

Speaking Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Pasadena, Calif., series creator Chris Carter shed light on the mystery of last season's finale - namely, who knocked up Scully?
We now learn that that New Year's Eve kiss she and Mulder shared (which occurred in an episode that aired Nov. 28) might have been a prelude to some off-screen action.
"It makes it a lot more fun to now go back and find out what really happened," Carter said, musing on the possibility of an amorous flashback.

Later on in answer to someone's incredulous question about Scully having sex: "Yes, there is potential she was having sex (laughter). We're going to play with that story line this year actually and find out what exactly happened. We hinted at some sort of relationship in the episode "all things" which was actually Gillian's written and directed episode. So there is was a nod to a possibility. And we're going to play with that some more."

At a recent comic book convention, he says he was confronted with a probing query from a teenager in the audience: "She said, 'Now, was Agent Scully having sex? We never SAW her having sex.' And I said, 'How old are you?' and she said, '13.' And I said, 'I guess this is the PG-13 answer: She COULD have been having sex. She MIGHT have been having sex.'" Indeed, one of this season's episodes (written and directed by Anderson) will begin and end in the bedroom, Carter says. "We're gonna break all the barriers of what you can do on prime time."

Ah, more conspiracies. In a May 26 interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Chris Carter acknowledged that Mulder might be the father, cryptically saying, "There was a [recent] episode written and directed by Gillian that began and ended in Mulder's bedroom. That would certainly bring up some questions for me."

Gillian said

GA also said that she really feels the baby was created during "all things." She said that Chris had told her that he felt that "all things" was the beginning of the next phase of The X-Files and also that "Requiem" tied into "all things." Though she also reminded us that this doesn’t mean she’s right and that she might walk into production (which she told one fan she thinks starts at the end of July) and have the baby be alien. It’s just her take that it’s Mulder’s from all things.

Later

Anderson also revealed that coming episodes will feature flashbacks into key moments in the Scully-Mulder relationship, as well as hinting that one look will address the night the two "may" have conceived the baby. (Per Manum)

And Frank said

Anderson's reaction to the season-ending bombshell that the supposedly barren Scully is somehow pregnant? "She said, 'I knew it!' That was her reaction. She liked it, though."

As someone said later

Do you think the writers enjoy tricking us, or is it just a by-product of their scripts? First they let us guess for ourselves Mulder and Scully's new sleeping arrangements. Then they fooled us into thinking Scully's vertigo was due to some alien interaction when it was nothing more human than morning sickness. Deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate.

Some things are best left a mystery. It is the essence of the show. Or not?
