Big Light

first off, i wish that shows like fringe would stop ripping off of the x files plot!!! the preview for their season opener is basically black oil mixed with the thing that happened to skinner in the 6th season, mixed with "ice". they even use the same effect! Fringe is a great show, but i don't appreciate plagiarism. secondly......i hope they make a final decision on x files 3!!!!!!!

Well put. I started watching Fringe, but then was turned away when I saw everything they did was The X-files, just not as good. The writers, Directors, and Actors are way better on The X-Files.
Also, just like you I hope to hear a final decision in regards to a 3rd XF movie, hopefully a Go!
haha, it was exactly the same for me. I saw a few episodes at the beginning and i was like "cool! this is really interesting!" but of course, Fox is letting their shows steal from their old hits because they saw how everyone loved x files, and they want their ratings to go up. gah! and did you see the Bones thing too? they're all copying off of x files!!! but at least bones made it REALLY obvious, not subtle like Fringe.

I think Bones showed respect for The X-Files, Fringe is just plain out steeling. XF was oringinal, fringe, not so much. I FRINGE at the idea Fox could allow Fringe to take so many concepts of The X-files and try and show them as their own.

Yeah...I was so mad when I watch the first episode of Fringe. I read a lot of articles on the net about it and they all said that Fringe was the new X File. There is nothing new about ripping off already used ideas. And Anna Torv has the expressivity of a lettuce. And I do agree that Bones respect the X Files. I think that with all the new talk about the show fox will give the 3º movie a go.

at least that's the upside, that fox can see that audiences are clearly into those kinds of shows. And yea i agree, Bones showed more respect just because they didn't try to stage it as their own haha. I just hope that David Duchoveny will agree to making a new one too.... D:

***adding to my last comment**** haha i forgot to make my point: That fox is more likely to let Carter make a new one becuase they can see that audiences blah blah. GRRR the Fringe commercial just came on..... >_cite>alice harper said:

Alas, Abrams attempted to pay homage to our favorite show, but it's all been done before by the greats Carter and Spotnitz.

While it is CLEAR that Fringe stole the playbook from the XF locker room, I must admit that I am enjoying it for what it is... which is a LITE version of the full-bodied XF designed for the "next generation." While it was indeed brazen of Fringe to include a black oil menace in a recent episode, I think it would be interesting for Fringe to INCORPORATE the XF black oil mythology into their story. Not copy the story, but actually have the Fringe team discover the SAME "alien black oil" and contend with that knowledge in their own way (and make reference to the X-Files!). I also appreciate that Fringe poked fun at itself by giving a nod to the XF in one of its episodes. Indeed, THEY know they are stealing from the XF. WE know they are stealing from the XF. It's a good show standing on the shoulders of a BRILLIANT show. :-)
