Big Light

To the fans:

Myself, and other staffers of The X-Files Lexicon, wanted to address the reason why we haven’t been posting any articles, or officially commenting on the story about David Duchovny’s comments to a French magazine that a “third X-Files movie was being written.” Initially, I was willing to take the comment at face value, until a colleague and contributor to the Lexicon, a person who lives in France, warned me otherwise. This person further explained that she has read the magazine for many years, and she stressed that this magazine’s interviews with foreign actors almost never make sense because of their poor translations. While is it a cliché to bring this up, she admitted that most French people have understanding issues where foreign languages are involved--especially English. She pointed out that David probably made some vague statement about Chris and Frank throwing some ideas around. The writer seized on it, and tried to make it look like she / he had an inside scoop. I trust this colleague, and so we stand by our decision.

Having made that point, The X-Files Lexicon staff has never questioned the integrity of X-Files News in their reporting, and we consider them allies and friends. We simply held skepticism over the source. This in no way means that we at The X-Files Lexicon are not supportive of the effort to persuade 20th Century Fox to green light a third X-Files feature; we very much champion all fan efforts to petition Fox to finance a third film, as well as a Millennium feature.

However, the stated policy with The X-Files Lexicon is, we will not circulate information that hasn’t been confirmed by an official publicist, including hearsay, or rumor, but will cooperate with verifiable outlets. Regarding the actions of other websites, when it comes to publishing stories, we have no position, but we always wish them the best with their efforts.

A number of people have personally expressed their appreciation to me in that we only release verifiable information. During 2008, leading up to the release of I Want To Believe we employed this practice, and it served us well. As Fox Mulder might be prone to say – “No one has a monopoly on the truth.” All fans should aspire to gather the best information possible. I hope this clears up the matter.

Even if xfl was Scully, a) they lack a medical degree, red hair, and ugly suits, but more importantly b) Scully never went to Blevins and publicly complained about Mulder. They had a real partnership, based on understanding and compromise. Scully had integrity and would never go behind his back to OPR. In fact, in their darkest hour, during Redux, Scully was willing to give up her life for his. That's dedication and loyalty. And I don't really see that here. Maybe some Agent Spender being tossed around, but no Scully.

After reading over the discussion thread, I can only come to one solid conclusion: XFN is Mulder and XF Lexicon is Scully. XFN is the manifestation of wanting to believe, going on a hunch and what they feel, and is usually right 98.9% of the time. XF Lexicon is incredulous and just needs more proof (and I don't blame them!)

Yes, these sites need to remain allies, because you are the Mulder and Scully of the fandom. X-Files has taught us so well :D
My bad

LOL Jessa...we could always start talking in quotes again, XFDC style... :P
Wowsers this exploded overnight.

Don't give up!

We all want the movie. We all want the movie to be about (relatively) the same things... XFN have done so much to promote that fans want XF3 (XF3 Army postcards, videos, Frankenbear world wide tour), and as long as we keep screaming LOUD that we want XF3, eventually, I believe that FOX will deliver that all important Green Light. And yes, it was a few weeks before IWTB started filming that we got that greenlight.

Lets just say this... I hope it happens soon. The Australians are getting anxious. We have expensive travel plans to make.

Iam not giving up sandi I also what this movie to happened.
I'm going to add my two cents if that is alright.

The original heads-up about the TVMag article came from a Facebook friend -- I know XFN and XFiles Universe found it from our mutual friend, and most likely others too. Of course all of us jumped on it; it was exciting! And many of us reported from our sites immediately what TVMag wrote. I know that we also published updates as they were available regarding the Latino Review, the statement on biglight, and the link from Gillian Anderson's website. Speaking for XFiles Universe, I know that we tried contacting TPTB for confirmation (as reported in our article). Speaking for only XFiles Universe, no one replied to our requests for confirmation. Guess they were busy on the phone with Latino Review, lol!

And of course in everyone's mind is the idea that this could be false; that is why we were careful in the articles to say that TVMag reported it. But that type of information cannot be ignored. So we report and wait for the truth to emerge.

I don't think it was right or wrong to choose to report or not to report. Every site admin has to decide what is best for the site. For our site it was right-- the article itself was news.

And by the way, I still think this entire thing is odd. As I wrote in the article, I have to wonder if FOX is watching to see if the public is glad that reports of XF3 were rumored. I think maybe that is why FOX All-Access decided to go with the story. It seemed especially odd when that ridiculous post on the FOX All-Access facebook page came from them, wanting our opinions about Chris Carter writing the script. Of course we want that! But if I were FOX and there was really no hint of a movie, would I bother to be that specific on Facebook? NO! I'd ignore the whole thing!

And the good thing from this? Looking at my newsfeed, most of the media showed excitement over the announcement. That's gotta mean something! I'm hoping that mean XF3 gets the green light!
I couldn't agree more Maurisa :) And you are right, the original person who saw the french story is who we got it from and we sourced this person on our article after asking her permission to post her first name :) And I do believe that she is a mutual friend to both XFN and XFU and probably many of the philes on facebook :)

Since were all Philes.....Let's discuss this new case.....(speculation only)....So If GA gives a little blurb about DD's comment in her upcoming interview with Psychologies for the December's issue and says something like ... Don't give up on a miracle...I Want To Believe....she also knows something....DD and GA have both said in articles and interviews they don't live M and S like we do...they have to get into character...and here she is quoting from the X-Files....What could that mean....Getting into character maybe...??
Good way to think about it Bev. :-)
