Big Light

With the arrival of Summer, Philes are vacationing around the world.  Some are fortunate enough to visit the beautiful cities of Vancouver and Los Angeles (and the surrounding areas), and conduct their own X-Files tour.

If you have done one of these tours, did you have a favorite location?  Perhaps it was a place that made you relieve the emotion of a scene from so many years ago.  Perhaps it was a site that made you say, without a doubt, "That is from ___________."  Was there a "can not miss location" for you?

*** Remember to name the location as it was seen on the series - not the real name **

And for those less fortunate, is there a must see location for you to visit, given the opportunity, from both movies and the entire season?

My personal favorite are Peacock House from Home, Mulder's bar from Fight the Future, and William's Birth Place from Existence.

- Walking down Pendrell Street and coming across "Scully's Apartment" was HUGE for me. I actually cried.

- Visiting the Vancouver Aquarium and standing in the "Shark Tank" - exactly where Deep Throat and Mulder stood! (also the Beluga Tanks and the Amazonian Exhibit were in Fearful Symmetry.

- Driving up Highway 99 to Whistler we drove straight past the BC Mining Museum (Strughold Mining Company) from Paperclip. I squealed and videoed it on the way back down to Vancouver.

I wasn't actually there for X-Files locations last time I was there - but just seeing a few while walking around the streets was so cool. I am actually headed back there in 18 months - for a ski trip, and to have a geek-specific (at least) 3 days in Vancouver/Surrounding Vancouver/Pemberton :)
You know--though the locations themselves are a nostalgic reminder of the show, my 'best' memories are the times I shared the experience with other Philes. While I loved all three locations that you mention, Raskolnikov, they stand out more so due to the shared geek factor. That being said, I love standing in a spot where the productions has been--more so when the area has remained more or less the same. It is doubly fun when you run into a staff member or other person who was around during the time of filming and can share a nugget of information regarding the experience.

Okay, this has just made me a little XFiles-Homesick!

I could not agree with your more MP. Sitting in traffic, bottles of Advil, driving through the middle of nowhere, laughing, singing, and enjoying life..... those drives were some of the best times of my life.
I really want to visit the spray-painted X on the highway from the Pilot episode!!! And the ever-famous first and last hotel room. Mulder's bar from FTF is another one, and of course apartment 42!
Favorite location visited: Mulder's couch in his apartment on the Fox lot. Sadly, Mulder was not on it.

Destined to be my favorite location: Wherever they shoot X-Files 3. ;)
I haven't ever done one of those tours, although I did visit the FOX studios before. I would love to visit:

--like you said, R., Mulder's bar from FTF.

--like Philiater said, the "Unremarkable House" from IWTB.

--Was the end scene of "Millennium," when M&S kissed, filmed at an actual hospital or was that just a set? If it was an actual hospital I'd love to see it & stand in that exact room! :)

--the field where Mulder read the poem in the teaser of "The Field Where I Died."

--The baseball field where the end scene in "The Unnatural" was filmed. Anyone know which one it is?

--Santa Monica Pier (from "The Amazing Maleeni"). I'm moving to L.A. next month & can't wait to go there!! I've visited L.A. a lot but haven't gotten the chance to visit there.

--The temple from "all things"...or at least the street/address where they filmed the outside of it, because I realize the inside/actual temple might have been a film set.

--The forest/park or wherever most of the Detour episode was filmed.

--The hotel room from Pilot / The Truth (of course!!).
- I remember the first time, when I walked down to the Santa Monica Pear and saw this beautiful few with the Amazing Maleenie Wheel the first time... wonderful!

- I'd been very excited to stand in front of the FTF Pub "Casey's" which is really cool! I also had been able to sit at the bar, just like Mulder did.

- Another highlight had been to visit the "Queen Anne"... a wonderful ship. And best thing, you can buy your ticket and be on the ship the whole day, you are able to explore everything... and take a lot of pictures!!! Great thing happened... On the Queen Anne, I found out how to use my automatic release.

I am looking forward to my holidays in LA this year and hope to be able to visit Vancouver in the near future!
I really liked visiting where William's birth was filmed, that place is neat. The baseball fields from The Unnatural too, those were a blast. Casey's bar... awesome memories. Being with other like-minded Philes is the best part of the trip. What wonderful memories I have with some of the greatest people I've ever met :)
Like it's already been said, it's the experiences shared with other philes in looking for these spots. Nothing can replace the hours of LA traffic and the conversations that these trips inspired...(who can forget car blenders!)

The two locations that stand out most: Casey's (Mulder's FTF bar) and the mansion from HTGSC. That house was really the only time I truly geeked out (good thing three of my closest friends were there to share in that moment ;)
- Unremarkable House from IWTB
This was a very emotional moment for me and my friend. To see the street, the gate and the house was just fantastic.

- Riverview Hospital from IWTB and a few XF epis
For me a very spooky place. I loved walking through the big area.

- Peackoks House from Home
Very cool location, but sadly far away. We could not go to the house.

- House from How the ghosts stole christmas
Very beautiful house. The mayor we met in the church from Signs and wonders told us that the house was build by the same person who build the church. Because of a big fire years ago, they rebuild the house. It is very nice.

- Pollidories House from Post modern Prometheus
Very nice house in a nice park. It looks sooooo much like in the episode. It has a high recognition value.

- Lamplighter Pub from Max
It was nice hanging around and have a drink at the place where Scully got her Apollo 11 keychain.:)

- Pub from FTF
It looks so much like in the movie, but we did not find the alley with the Independence Day Poster...*haha*

- The boathouses and the Garry Point Park from Beyond the sea

- Lake from Quagmire
Very beautiful place to relax and watch for Big Blue. :)

- Williams Birthplace from Existence
It was interesting to see how they chanced the set for filming that episode. When we were there, we had a very big swarm of bees which sounds like in FTF. Very spooky.

- Queen Anne from Triangle

There are so many beautiful places. I saw 205 locations in three weeks and this was the trip of my life.:)
Thanks again, Erica!!! I will never forget that!!! Really looking forward to your book.
The mansion from HTGSC was the only time I heard squeals of happiness from any Phile. Seeing that house (and getting to it) was most enjoyable.
Everyone's been to such awesome places! I didn't have a lot of time when I went out there. I'll have to go back again!
I did have a chance to drop by the Santa Monica Pier and got to see lots of pictures of where Erica and her friends had gone :)
