Mulder resurrected… But the newspaper itself is about politics, right, military policy. And there was really a race there in the episode. But I don’t think the episode deals with politics – it’s a character centered episode, keeping up the mythology. And I think the newspaper is just kind of supporting detail concearning the nameplate which is a more exoteric symbol and is pinpointed in two coupled scenes (in this This Is Not Happening episode and the Deadalive one). Anyway, we are not shown what the issue is about, and so it means that the fact that it’s in Russian and that the newspaper is called Красная Звезда is all we need to decode all that. TXF is a very educating show, but I don’t think that the audience, especially not Russian –speakers, have to know that in Russia there is a newspaper and so on… But that’s just my point, and I agree that we should ask Frank)))

I don't think it has something to do with a Bible and religion at all. In our country it means something more political... Perhaps we should ask Frank about it? ;)

just briefly - IMHO, it hints at what is to come further.
Pay attention to:
-- whose nameplate is on the newspaper
-- to the title of it ("Красная звезда" (Red Star) - it's symbolic (plus rem-r that TXF is also an allusion on the Bible, and somehow it also couples with the scene where Scully and Skinner talk about Mulder while gazing into the night sky); to what language it is written in
-- to what and who does with the nameplate (and what their motives are concerning Mulder - his being found or staying alive) - in this episode it's Dogget (in Scully's presence; and Scully) , and in the next episode (Deadalive) - Krycek (rem-r the language) (in Skinner's presence)...

yees- a tiny tiny bit. I learned Russian at high school :)
I knew about the Russian philes and asked Andrey if they could do a Kim Manners tribute. Its was a lovely tribute with all the quotes and Mark Snow Music!

Anyway- this really...I really would like to know why this is there. Probably anything Cold War related ?? Hmm
