Roxbury Theater
Beverly Hills, Ca
My associates and I arrived an hour early for the first of many intimate conversation series put on by IBG. We seated ourselves in the front row of the theater and eagerly awaited the panelists, Producer/Director Michelle MacLaren and Writer/Producer/Director Vince Gilligan.
After a late start, Michelle began asking Vince a nice mix of questions related to both The X-Files and Breaking Bad. I must say I was impressed by Michelle's list of questions - all 3 pages worth! After 45 minutes, Michelle opened up the floor to the audience for their questions. There seemed to be some recent college graduates in the audience, so their questions revolved around advice for aspiring writers and whatnot. I asked two questions:
To Vince:
- Tom Schnauz once told me that he had a storyline idea about a female version of The Lone Gunmen meeting the trio in an episode of The Lone Gunmen. Had either Night Stalker or The Lone Gunmen series continued, what storyline would you have liked to have written for either of the characters?
Vince did not really have a response, but did his best.
To Michelle:
- You seem to have caught the directing bug over the years since your debut in 2002 on The X-Files John Doe. Who are some of the directors that influenced you in your career?
Michelle responded with Kim Manners and wel as Sergio _______________.
The audience seemed to ask questions for 45 minutes, after which IBG concluded the event. Many fans stayed after to speak to Vince and Michelle; to thank them for their time. This is a great type of event for fans that are interested in the Behind the Scenes workings of television and movies; I can't wait for the next one.
